Welcome to the website of the African Network for Information Ethics!

This website is the result of the first African Information Ethics Conference, held in Tshwane, South Africa, 5-7 February 2007. The attendees agreed to form a network of professionals interested in Information Ethics from an African perspective - the ANIE, African Network for Information Ethics, to further research in this area and to contribute to fulfil the ideals as spelled out in the Tshwane declaration.

This website which is still in its infancy, will contribute to these ideals. Therefore, at present, you will find the following on the website:

• Reports of the three topic facilitators at the Conference (in PDF format)
• Instructions for the listserver
• A blog for discussing issues relevant to AIE

It has been suggested that we also include:

• Literature (papers, books, etc.) related to ANIE that we could put in a Virtual Library
• Institutions related to IE in Africa
• Institutions where IE-related themes are taught in Africa
• A news page in which we can announce ongoing activities
